Hiking Backpacks

I am thinking about getting a new pack for my husband as a surprise for his birthday. I don’t really know too much about the difference between the different types. What do you think? Looking for answers from people who actually have experience.

Okay, so i want a new backpack. But i don’t want to spend a lot of money on it. So, i looked on Amazon.com and i saw this Dakine Backpack. It’s called Dakine Heli Pro Backpack and normally is for hiking and the such. But i like the style, would it still be okay for school? Is it even a good backpack? If you know anything, that’d be great! Thanks!

I do biking/hiking. Always hold it behind me while walking. Is there a backpack or an add on to a backpack that has hooks to hold the bike?

I have been looking for a backpack for going out on extended hikes. I whent into REI and they fsized me up and told me i would weir a medium. So, i got a Medium Gregory Z55 for Christmas and after putting weight into it I found that the waist belt is way to big to fit me. I am 5′ 8" and 135 lbs. I have a verry small waist. What would be the best thing for me to do? Should i go for a size small even know i am suposed to weir a medium? The belt will fit me around the waist snug, but only at the tightest setting. We want to do a winter backpacking trip in the San Bernardino forest near Big Bear California. What would be some of the best hiking trails in the area for a 2 or 3 day backpacking/winter-camping trip in this area. We are planning to do this trip around the mid of Feb. Will we need a back-country permit for this activity?

i wanna go backpacking/hiking in Canada for 4months and i wanna know how much money i will need for food, dry cleaning, anything else you think i should also need money for then please list, thanks, oh im going to Ontario. dollars or pounds im not fussed what currency

Has anyone used these for hiking and backpacking? What did you think of them? Are they a good option? Are they ok for your body?

My boyfriend and I are going on a 2 day 1 night hiking trip on the Appalachian Trail. We do not have hiking packs, but we made due with what we have. I’ve made a makeshift hike-pack and attached my sleeping bag to my backpack which contains a pillow, first-aid, a sweatshirt and toiletries. My boyfriend will be carrying on his back a back-pack with sleeping bag attached and toiletries. I would like to know which foods will be lightest and most convenient for a hiking trip like this. I do not want a heavy load because this is our first time out, and we will just be getting used to the hike. Thank you.

I’ve posted this in other catagories, but, need all the help I can get. What is a good hiking pack to take on a long trip? I will be backpacking across Europe, and need something that is not too heavy, but is large enough to hold enough gear. I am looking for something that is light weight and durable with an interior frame. I’m just over 5′6" tall. I have no idea what to get or look for, I’ve never gone on an extended trip like this before, just day trips. Any help will be apreciated.
